Track Biography:

Dromahane is one of the busiest courses on the point-to-point calendar, regularly hosting a number of fixtures each year for a number of different hunts, including Duhallow, Doneraile, Muskerry, Cloyne and Killeady from 1988 onwards. 

The track is owned by the O'Brien Family

The 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River is at the top of the list of recent star graduates from Dromahane which also includes the likes of Graded winners No More Heroes, Marias Benefit, Free Expression, Seeyouatmidnight, alongside Cheltenham Festival winners Black Hercules and The Druids Nephew.

Most recent Dromahane graduates include: Grade 1 Aintree Festival novice hurdle winner Jonbon, Dual Champion Hurdle and 11 time Grade 1 winner Honeysuckle, 2021 Supreme novice hurdle winner Appreciate It, 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Minella Indo and 2021 Albert Bartlett novice hurdle winner Vanillier.

How To Get There

By Road

From Mallow- At the roundabout take the N20 for Cork and continue out the road and take the R620 to Dromahane. In the village of Dromahane turn left up the hill. Continue up that road and veer left, (not to bweeng). Take the first left up that road. Use Eircode P51N6TO. It will be signposted from main road.

From Cork - On the Cork Mallow Road N20 turn left for Dromahane on the R620.In the village of Dromahane turn left up the hill. Continue up that road and veer left, (not to bweeng). Take the first left up that road. Use Eircode P51N6TO. It will be signposted from main road.

From Killarney - On the Main Mallow to Killarney Road (N72) on Navigation Road take a right on to the R621 and follow the road signposted for Dromahane. Use Eircode P51N6TO. It will be signposted from the main road.

Facilities

Combined with extensive free parking we have a clear viewing track that allows race goers to get as close to the action as possible.

We can also provide disabled parking on the day if racegoers inform one of our parking stewards on their way into the point-to-point.

We have portaloo’s and changing facilities for toddlers on the course.

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.
 

Food

Chips, Burgers, Soup, sandwiches, sweets and drinks are available on the track which are all provided by a professional catering company.

There is also plenty of space for families to enjoy picnics if you choose to bring one with you for the day.

If you would like a sweet treat during the day we also have a confectionary stall at the meeting.
 

Beverages


We have numerous catering options available on the track which offer teas and coffees.

For those looking for something a little more substantial why not get a cup of soup, perfect for keeping yourself warm in-between races.

The sweet stand and catering outlets will also have a number of minerals available for purchase.

Is there a dress code for point-to-points?

No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to dress warmly with waterproof shoes or boots.

Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.

Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments.

Weather permitting we will have a free bouncy castle.

No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in the nearby town of Mallow on your way to the races.

Amenities

Children under 16 are free and when weather permits we have a free bouncing castle.

There is a wide open space for kids to run around whilst the adults can soak up the racing action, spotting the next National Hunt star of the future.

Nothing beats the excitement of the closing stages of a race and our track ensures that you have a great view. Our final fence and finishing straight are both fantastic viewing points for  spectators.

As we are an outdoor event that only happens once a year, many of our facilities are only temporary which adds to the real character of the event. We do of course have a number of portaloos, catering options and much more to ensure you have a very pleasant experience with us.

Our point-to-point is located half an hour from Cork city which makes it extremely accessible for visitors to combine a city break with a day out in the countryside.

The luckless METHODTOTHEMADNESS is certainly deserving of a change in fortunes, as she came down in the closing stages at both Monksgrange and Necarne last season, having shown very promising signs. She was upsides Robin Des Sivola when the pair exited at the last at Necarne, and with Robin Des Sivola having already won the opening race in this division at Toomebridge, that is a big boost, whilst the stable is in red hot form. Takingitallin and the fast finishing Mrsgrey are the likely dangers.

HANG TOUGH made an encouraging debut at The Pigeons last month, and that opening fourth-place effort should see him as the leading horse in this with previous form. Flaming Glory and Murphys Law have both got among the placings to date, and would seem to be the pick of the others with previous experience, and the market will give the best guide as to what is expected from the many newcomers.

LUSCIOUS LILY returns from her summer break having already proven herself to be a very capable sort at this venue in early May, when she was left in front at the final fence, only to be badly hampered. Despite being almost brought to a standstill, she picked up again to only go down by a neck in what was a very promising debut. All The Way West has the advantage of recent race fitness over a number of these, and has really seemed to have taken a step forward of late. Meanwhile, Whatsdastory did offer more hope with her final start of last season around here in May, having failed to build on the promise of Quakerstown-second when well beaten at Ballysteen.

SHANACOOLE PRINCE produced two very consistent performances to round out his debut season when placing at both Liscarroll and around here in late April. Both of those efforts would entitle him to go very close in a race like this. Ali The Greatest proved his well-being when third at Moig South last weekend, where that race fitness should certainly prove beneficial here, whilst Kris The Ground will have her first start for the Michael Winters team on what would also be her first appearance between the flags following four starts under rules.
