Our venue offers spectators brilliant viewing facilities, whereby all parts of the track can be seen. The horses race right up to the crowd, jump one fence and before turning back out into the country side. The finish line is situated in front of the crowd also – so you can cheer the horses!

We have unlimited parking spaces and plenty shelter should a light shower intervene during the day. With warm drinks along with hot and cold food on offer, the races are a great day out for all – friends, family, club members - catch up over the Christmas period and have some fun in the fresh air.

If all that fresh air gets your tummy rumbling or you need a hot drink to warm up we have a great variety to keep your energy levels up!

This year to raise funds for two local teenagers heading to Calcutta all proceeds made from purchases of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soup and a variety of sandwiches will go to raising much needed funds.

Hot food caterers are also available on the day where you can purchase tasty burgers, sausages and chips.

If you haven’t had enough of sweets over the Xmas period you can get your ‘fix’ at our onsite shop!

This year, you will be able to warm-up with a fresh cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate whilst also contributing to the fundraising efforts of the day in support of two local teenagers who will be travelling to Calcutta.

Our on-site hot food caterers will also have a range of soft drinks which can be purchased to accompany your tasty food treats.

There is no dress code but it is advised to wear warm clothing and old shoes/wellies as it is December after all!
Dogs are more than welcome, once kept on a lead.
People are invited to have a picnic or bring their own food.
All kids race for free and the local kids school colouring competition will be displayed on the day. Face painting will take place in the social tent with donations made to a local charity/fundraiser.
There is not an ATM on-course.

All kids race for free and the local kids school colouring competition will be displayed on the day. Face painting will take place in the ‘social’ tent with donations made to a local charity/fundraiser.

Dress up your family ‘pooch’ for our ‘Santa Paws’ competition for the best dressed Xmas dog.
Should the weather permit the day will feature some ‘old school’ games for friends and family – Egg & Spoon Race, Hula Hooping etc.

The Colin Bowe pairing of Quivvy Lough and STREETS OF FIRE are the only two horses from the nine-strong entry that have previous experience, with the latter only narrowly touched off at Boulta in December. The market will give the best indication as to what is to be expected of the newcomers.

The Philip Fenton-trained BARROWLANDS would be a deserving winner of this having been forced to settle for second on his two outings in the spring at Loughrea and Tralee. He is certainly a consistent performer. The Colin Bowe pairing of Eclair Des Sablons and De Hollow Man have both previously finished in the placings in the past, whilst Dolphin Square is another that cannot be discounted.

RAN RITE has had to settle for second best in both of his outings before Christmas, but those efforts at Turtulla and Corbeagh House, would seem to be more than enough to win a race like this. It is hard to looked passed him for this. Serious Mood was slightly disappointing on his return to action at Boulta last month, but will be sure to improve.

LONGHOUSE MUSIC has been in scintillating form all the way through the autumn campaign and she will look to extend her winning run here. Like her main danger, Burning Ambition, she holds an alternative entry in the Ladies Open at Mainstown, but either would have to be given plenty of respect if lining up here. Fennos Storm developed into a top class sort last season and is another deserving of serious respect if conditions were in his favour, whilst Art Of Logistics looked like he was returning to form when fifth at Borris House.

CRYSTAL KATE only went down by a length in a big field maiden at Dromahane in the spring, and if primed for this return to action, she would have to be fancied to put up a good performance in this. Lady Rococo, who is also entered in Mainstown, will pounce on any fitness questions concerning the selection, as she has already run twice this season, finishing placed on both occasions. The Best In Town and Sadhbhs Delight, who was not been far at Borris House last month, are others with live claims.

BRIGHT RHETT has not been seen since he finished second at Kildorrery in February, and although he is a lightly raced sort who has run only once in each of the last two years, he could be the one to follow in this. Touch Light got among the placings on three occasions last season and has to be respected, whilst Voiceofthekingdom brings placed track form into his pointing debut, but he must overcome a two-year absence.
