Track Biography:

The North Down point-to-point moved to its current course at Kirkistown in 2006 and have held three meetings each season since then. The course is located towards the eastern side of the Ards Peninsula near the village of Portavogie.  It’s in an area that was used as an airfield during the war and hence is very flat and well drained.

Kirkistown is a very level left handed course run over a circuit just short of a mile. Runners jump two fences close to the spectator’s area and a further three along the back straight.

Our November fixture is normally the final meeting of the autumn calendar in the northern area. Conversely, our February and March fixtures are two of the earliest in the northern spring calendar.

Some of the leading graduates from our point-to-point include Simonsig, Petit Mouchoir & Agus A Vic.

This is the first ever four-year-old auction maiden to be run which is solely restricted to horses that were bought for E25,000 or less at the store sales last summer and as a result it has attracted quite a small entry. THECHASEISON finished third behind recent sales topper Wide Receiver on debut at Cragmore, although the horse he finished just three lengths in front of failed to frank the form at Borris House. The Great Georgie brings the other piece of previous form as he was beaten by 20 lengths around here last month.

The John Paul Brennan-trained ULTIMATE GETAWAY ran well for a long way at Tinahely on his debut, when only finding an above average sort in Enjoy Dallen too good after making a mistake at the last. He should go close in this. Sonru chased him home at Tinahely and will likely not be too far away, Cuff Parade managed to get into the placings in a big field four-year-old maiden at Tattersalls on debut, Track recruit Geordiebest ran two solid races in summer bumpers last year and has to be respected on his first attempt over obstacles, whilst Islandray has a good deal of experience.

Paul Pierce does particularly well with the mares that he has under his care, and there will be great interest if unleashes IMMORTALITY in this, as the daughter of Spanish Moon is an own-sister to none other than leading Cheltenham Festival hope Laurina. She holds a number of alternative entries this weekend, but if turning up here she will surely have her supporters. Milan Diva is back from a long absence having previously finished second at Necarne, whilst Panic Your Beat, Annie McCarroll and Honest Opinion are others for the shortlist.

The Gordon Elliott-trained KRUZHLININ has taken all before him within the open division this season and goes in search of his eight victory of the campaign, having already enjoyed success around here when getting the better of smart types in Winged Leader and Gwencily Berbas. He is very tough to oppose. Road To Riches is a former Grade 1 winner who we are yet to see in Open company, but he could be very interesting, whilst Dantes King is back from a year on the sidelines, but he was a winner when last seeing competitive action at Tinahely in 2018.

ROYAL DRUMLEE won his maiden at Armagh in good style last month and he could well be the one to follow in this given that he won somewhat cosily. Getaman was unable to back up his wide-margin Portrush success when re-appearing at Oldtown last month, but has to be given a second chance, whilst Decor Irlandais and recent maiden winners Mytermsoryours and A Ton Nom can be expected to step up.

Preview

BROADWAY STAR was only narrowly touched off when third in Tattersalls Farm before Christmas, and he could be the one to follow on his return from a slight break. The Bolder Boy may be the main danger as he was well-backed at Armagh recently, Oscar Academy has a whole host of placed form to his name having only failed to finish outside of the placings in just two of his seven starts to date, ensuring he has live place claims alongside the likes of returning Cosmic, Flight, the twice second No More Santies and Dontgetfooledagain.
