Rathbarry and Glenview Stud in Fermoy, Co. Cork have added another stallion to their books in the form of Youmzain.
The Irish bred stallion will join their National Hunt stallion roster along sides Malinas, Robin Des Champs, Shirocco and Sholokhov for 2018.
Rathbarry and Glenview stud announced last week the passing of their recruit for this season, Karpino after the Classic-winning miler succumbed to an aggressive malignant tumour at the end of March.
Youmzain is a son of Sinndar and is a dual Group one winner over 1m4f as well as finishing runner-up in seven Group ones including just two lengths behind Sea The Stars in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He won over €4.25 million in prize money from two to seven years from a mile to a mile and five furlongs.
Trained by Mick Channon for Jaber Abdullah, Youmzain has stood in France at Haras Du Quesnay since 2011 and is already a successful sire with both his Flat progeny which include the Gr.1 winning mare, SEA CALISI & The GR.2 winning colt ROYAL YOUMZAIN as well as his exciting young NH progeny which include the Black Type Hurdle Winner, DELIRE D’ESTRUVAL and the Willie Mullins trained SAGLAWY, who was the impressive 15 length winner of a 4-y-o hurdle at Gowran in March 2018 and was previously 3rd in the LR Prix Maurice Caillault.
Bred by Frank Dunne, Youmzain is a half-brother to the Group one winner Creachadoir who is the sire of the exciting Cheltenham Festival Arkle winner Footpad and is also a half-brother to the Group three winning mare Shreyas.
