Lalor and O'Sullivan tied at the top of the ITM Ladies Series

Lalor and O'Sullivan tied at the top of the ITM Ladies Series

Liz Lalor has enjoyed a very successful season to date with 12 winners, matching her best season to date and looks set to claim her seventh ladies rider title whilst being just two wins away from recording her 100th career success.

Lalor also heads the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Lady Riders point-to-point series board alongside Maxine O'Sullivan, both sitting on 13 points. Liz took the inaugural running of the series last year, and with two races remaining in the series it is all to play for. Dromahane next Sunday will be host to the penultimate race of the series, with the final on the last day of the season, at Ballingarry on June 4th.

Lalor has collected points on four occasions throughout the series, collecting the top marks once, when she took the Lisronagh heat of the series aboard the Declan Queally-trained Fenno's Storm. Only two finished in the longer distance, four-mile open at the Co. Tipperary track. Jodie Townend riding Bothair Clei to runner-up position in the race to collect four points adding to her overall total of nine, to sit in third on the table. Townend has recorded one win in the series aboard Ourmanmassini at Mainstown in December.

The two-time ladies' champion Maxine O'Sullivan has two victories in the series thus far, taking the opening contest in October at Tinahely. The Pat Doyle-trained Samannton recorded a facile 14-lengths victory over Aupcharlie to put Maxine in pole position from the start.

The Co. Cork native has ridden four winners this season, three of which have come courtesy of her father's prolific pointer A Decent Excuse. The Fruits of Love gelding has recorded two victories in as many weeks, the second of which was in the Stradbally leg of the series. A race in which O'Sullivan took won last year when she partnered Old Supporter for Helen Markham.

The Quakerstown leg of the series was won by Final Gift under Sheila Ahern who current sits in fifth position on seven points. Just one point ahead is Jeannie Cook on eight points, who as of yet not ridden a winner in the series, however has finished second on two occasions, at Mainstown and Stradbally aboard Gilgamboa and Aces And Kings respectively.
