Track Biography:

Formed in 1825, The Iveagh Foxhounds hunt is a famous hunt that has its place in Baily’s chronology of master ship. The Iveagh hunt hosts two point-to-points during the season, an Autmun fixture and a Spring fixture.

There has been many notable performances over the years at the Iveagh hunt santioned race meeting, Grade One winner Roi Du Mee made his only point-to-point appearance at the fixture when he won in October 2016.

Our point-to-point is nestled in the beautiful Northern Ireland countryside and is a perfect day out for all the family.

Fresh from saddling the winners of both four-year-old maiden races at Toomebridge last Saturday, Colin Bowe will likely supply the favourite for this race as he is responsible for the bulk of the entries for this which includes both Illico Du Breuil and Ihandaya who both offered promise last year. The Bowe team also have the interesting newcomer Zefiro Dodville who cost his connections E80,000 at the store sales last year and is certainly worth a paddock inspection pre-race if appearing here, whilst Willitgoahead has placed form to his name from last season.

OCEAN LEGACY is a newcomer to this sphere however she comes to the point-to-point fields with a wealth of track experience for a five-year-old and finished third in a big field handicap hurdle at Punchestown back in January. A repeat of that could see her take advantage of this opportunity. Maggie Barrett has a similar profile, and has twice finished placed around Downpatrick, whilst Mustameet Secret offered plenty of encouragement when third in a big field maiden at Castletown-Geoghegan last season, and would be a factor after a couple of spins over hurdles of late.

BALLYLINCH was in the process of running a fair race at Broughshane in the spring when coming down two-out. Although that was his second consecutive fall, he has shown enough potential to suggest that with a clear round of jumping he could go close in a weak looking race like this. Iheardupainthouses could be set for a quick re-appearance having run at Castletown-Geoghegan last Sunday and that should certainly stand to him here.

The Storyteller is a dual Grade 1 winner, however he has clearly had his issues of late having only run once in the past 18 months when reported to have pulled-up lame in Listowel over a year ago. That may hand the initiative to the reigning champion point-to-point horse SOME MAN is sure to have blown away the cobwebs when second last Sunday. Brain Power is himself a former Grade 1 winner and ended last season on a winning note in Tyrella, and looks a likely danger.

GOUAZEC made the frame at Toomebridge last Saturday and that race fitness should certainly stand to him here where he could come up against the much improved Le Mieux. He only got as a far as the first at Castletown-Geoghegan last Sunday, but was seen to good effect late last spring and is the obvious danger.

LOUGH NA FOOEY opened her account at Castletown-Geoghegan just last Sunday on what was also her first run since joining Leslie Young and he looks to have found a nice opportunity for the Virtual mare to quickly double up. Winnie Woodnutt has to be respected on her Portrush success, whilst You No Me Too Well has hit the crossbar three times and has moved from Keith Watson to Aidan Fitzgerald over the summer.
