Track Biography:

The point-to-point course is located at Loughanmore, Dunadry near Templepatrick.

Our landowner, Wilson Dennison has owned and produced a number of top-class national hunt horses including graded winners Yorkhill, Shaneshill, and Bellshill.

Our point-to-point is proud to have launched the career of many talented young horses who have gone on to make six figure sums at the horse-in-training sales in both Ireland and the UK.  Some of the leading names include the Cheltenham festival winner Ted Veale and the Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.

Its reputation as one of the premier tracks in the country, ensures that is has a particularly strong recent roll of honour, with the four-year-old maiden that is run at their Easter fixture really standing up to the test of time.

How To Get There

By Road

From Belfast– Take the M2 to the international airport exit. Turn left to Templepatrick and take the third exit off the first roundabout. Once you pass the Hilton Hotel take the first road on the left.

By Air

Loughanmore point-to-point is located 15 minutes from Belfast International airport and 25 minutes from George Best airport.

Facilities

Combined with extensive free parking we have a number of natural and man-made banks to help with viewing.

As the parking is in the centre of the course you are never too far from the action. This also provides an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic while you enjoy the racing.

Disabled parking and toilets are provided at the track which allows all race goers to enjoy their days racing. 

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Food

We offer a variety of catering options.

Our outside food caterers are located beside the parade ring and bookies and they sell an array of hot food options such as burgers, chips, sausages and chicken goujons.

If you would like to satisfy your sweet tooth we have a doughnut stall and an extensive sweet and chocolate stand that sells a selection of delicious goodies.

If you would a treat for the day we also have an ice-cream van in attendance.

 

Beverages

Race goers can purchase teas and coffees from our special coffee cart that sells a variety of popular coffee options.

Soft drinks and juices can be purchased from our outside catering outlet.

If you would like something a little stronger to keep you warm during your days racing, alcohol can be purchased in our on-course bar.

Is there a dress code for point-to-points?

No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to stay warm and dry for your days racing and to prepare yourself for all types of Irish weather.

Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.

Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments. We also have a range of catering options on course if you don?t fancy packing a picnic for the day.

At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.

No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in Templepatrick on your way to the races.

Loughanmore point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in Northern Ireland countryside and as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.

The award winning Hilton hotel is situated only five minutes from the track and along with a superb golf course it also has a luxurious spa to experience.

There would not look to be much separating quite a few of these on what they have produced to date, although the marginal preference would go to BARRONS LAND. Having got no further than the first on debut in Ballingarry, she put up a fine effort a week later in Dromahane to finish second. She likely sets the standard for this ahead of Bold Reflection who contested a decent looking maiden in Ballycahane which was won by Kudasheva. Colin Bowe would look to have a strong hand in this with both IHANDAYA and Painted Wolf bringing the pick of the recent form to this with the former possibly being turned out for the second week in succession after finishing second at Tinahely last Sunday. Sovereign Star was unable to back-up his Ballycahane debut when re-appearing in challenging conditions at Quakerstown over Easter. He could bounce back here whilst Making Headway should also not be overlooked.

Runners from the Caroline McCaldin stable have started the new season particularly well and her Ballyrashane did finish placed on the opening day of the season at Toomebridge. The form of the race did take a knock when the horse he finished directly in front of was beaten by 29 lengths in Tinahely, but that would still leave him with the strongest form entering this. Jet Patrol is the big eye-catcher of those others with previous form. He was sent off as the favourite for a big-field maiden at Lingstown in March and although falling early that market confidence should be notes especially with the stable producing a Tinahely double last Sunday.

He finished second in an adjacent winners race at Tyrella in March although it is hard form to get a full gauge of, whilst Gray Rock and Kalamkan than can also play a part.
