Track Biography:

The North Down point-to-point moved to its current course at Kirkistown in 2006 and have held three meetings each season since then. The course is located towards the eastern side of the Ards Peninsula near the village of Portavogie.  It’s in an area that was used as an airfield during the war and hence is very flat and well drained.

Kirkistown is a very level left handed course run over a circuit just short of a mile. Runners jump two fences close to the spectator’s area and a further three along the back straight.

Our November fixture is normally the final meeting of the autumn calendar in the northern area. Conversely, our February and March fixtures are two of the earliest in the northern spring calendar.

Some of the leading graduates from our point-to-point include Simonsig, Petit Mouchoir & Agus A Vic.

PATRIOTIK was keeping on to good effect before coming down at the last in Tinahely when chasing home the subsequent 155,000stg seller Hawthorn Street. That likely sees him setting the standard from those with previous form. La Higuera finished fifth at Dromahane on his return, and the third and the fourth from that race have been sold for 150,000 and 200,000stg in recent weeks, whilst Ballybrittas was an eye-catcher at Loughanmore in the spring and can step forward from his stable debut at Portrush.

The returning GLENDAARS FORTUNE is certainly due a breakthrough maiden victory after three consecutive second-placed finishes last season and would be a deserving winner, but her chief danger Ambush Annie also comes into this having finished second in all three of her runs between the flags. That includes at Loughanmore last time on her stable debut, and she could be a bigger threat here. Prophet Squeeze, Sky Luna and All Loved Up all hold place claims.

KENNYS PARK only found one more experienced rival too good when making his debut at Borris House last Sunday, and if coping with the quick turnaround, this would look like a good opportunity for him to open his account. Some Bro fell at Lingstown most recently but did finish a close third at Moira in October, whilst Killard Point also finished placed most recently.

MILLFORD HILL beat a subsequent winner when opening his account at Moira back in October, and he looks capable of doubling up in this. John The Spark was another to get a breakthrough initial success on that Moira card, and he looked to have taken a step forward over the summer break. It would be no surprise to see him step up further here.

There was no disguising the superiority that FERNS LOCK held over what was a very competitive field at Dromahane last month when he easily brushed aside subsequent winner Dinny Lacey on his return to action. The potentially reopposing Wowsham was over ten lengths behind him on that occasion, and he looks to be the class act in this. Shantou Show won his maiden around here in February, and he has gone from strength to strength since then, signing off on last season by finishing close to top hunter chasers Billaway and Vaucelet. He could make a big impression on his open debut.

SLIEVEHILL had a subsequent maiden winner behind him when outrunning his starting price in a point-to-point bumper at Fairyhouse recently, and a return to this company should be rewarded here. Pulse Of Camelot is the danger following a career-best at Lingstown on his seasonal re-appearance, although he has an easier alternative at Tattersalls, which may leave Kellyiscool as the other threat.
